UPDATE: Essex house fire accidental, with $225K damage

An early-morning house fire in Essex has been declared an accident.

The fire broke out shortly after 5:30 a.m. Monday on Laird Avenue near Hanlan Street, and involved crews from three Essex Fire and Rescue stations.

Fire officials said no one was hurt, and there has been no word on how many people have been affected.

Investigators said early Monday afternoon that the cause was accidental. The damage estimate for the home and contents is at $225,000.
