Arrest made in Windsor firearm theft

Windsor police say a 42-year-old man is accused of stealing firearms and ammunition from a local business.

Two firearms and an unspecified quantity of ammunition were taken on the evening of January 23 from a big-box store on Walker Road south of Division Road, though the incident was not reported to police until the following morning. Surveillance camera footage identified a suspect.

Sergeant Steve Betteridge said a suspect was arrested Thursday afternoon without incident. Henry Lewenza, of no fixed address, is charged with theft under $5,000, three counts of breach of probation, and ten counts of firearm-related offences. These charges have not been proven in court.

The firearms stolen in the January 23 incident have not been recovered.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
