UPDATE: One dead after early morning apartment fire

Just as investigators begin their probe to find out what started an early morning fire at an apartment building in East Windsor, there is news one person has died.

Windsor Fire and Rescue Services reported the death of a woman related to the fire just before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

The fire started after midnight Tuesday at the building on Erskine Street, between Riverside Drive East and Wyandotte Street East, and by the time firefighters arrived, heavy smoke was pouring from the second floor.

Investigators from the Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal will assist the investigation.

So far, there has been no monetary value placed on the damage.

Meanwhile, a second fire on Homedale Boulevard near Edgar Street caused $75,000 damage later in the morning.

Investigators concluded the accidental fire started with an electrical fault in the attic.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
