Police investigate convenience store robbery

Windsor police are searching for a suspect after an early morning robbery involving a phony handgun.

Around 3 a.m. Monday, officers responded to reports of a robbery at a convenience store on Ouellette Avenue near Erie Street West. Investigation revealed that a male suspect had entered the store, brandished what appeared to be a handgun, and demanded money.

The suspect got a quantity of cash and then ran from the scene. No injuries were reported during the incident.

During the investigation and search of the area, officers located and seized a number of items believed associated with the robbery, including clothing believed to have been worn by the suspect and a replica handgun.

The wanted suspect is described as a white male, 5'6 to 5'9 in height, facial hair with a chin-strap outline beard style, wearing a blue toque, white gloves and a black jacket.
