UPDATE: Fatal snowmobile crash under investigation

Windsor police would like to hear from anyone with information about a fatal crash involving a snowmobile in Amherstburg early Wednesday morning.

Officers at the Windsor Police Service Amherstburg Detachment got a call around 1 a.m. about a collision involving a snowmobile.

The crash was on 4th Concession Road North at County Road 8.

When they got there, they found the snowmobile and the driver off the road. The driver had been thrown from the vehicle after it collided with an object on the road.

Paramedics rushed the man to the hospital with life-threatening injuries where he passed away.

The road was closed for several hours while the Accident Reconstruction Unit and Forensic Identification Unit worked at the scene.

It was reopened just after 9 a.m.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
