Police nab alleged impaired driver in stolen vehicle

A man is facing several charges after allegedly driving a stolen vehicle while impaired.

The Windsor Police Traffic Enforcement Branch first spotted the grey Honda on Tecumseh Road near Forest Glade Drive around 6:15 p.m. Monday. The car was going 135 kilometres per hour in a 65 km/h zone. When police tried to stop the driver the car pulled into a parking lot near Lauzon Road. He stopped the car and ran away.

A suspect was located and arrested without incident.

The car had recently been reported stolen.

A 30-year-old man from Windsor is charged with theft of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, impaired driving, exceeding the legal blood/alcohol limit while operating a vehicle, and stunt driving.
