Hearing on new hospital location begins

The fight over the location of the single-site acute care hospital continues this week.

A Divisional Court hearing on the Local Planning Appeal Tribunal's decision starts Wednesday at 10 a.m.

The local group, Citizens for an Accountable Mega Hospital Planning Process requested leave to appeal the LPAT decision to uphold the zoning by-law amendments put in place to allow the new hospital to be built on County Road 42.

The LPAT decision found that the official plan and zoning bylaw amendments were in line with provincial policy and that CAMPP did not meet the onus to appeal.

The court hearing will not take place in person because of the current pandemic situation. Instead, the public process will be broadcast on YouTube.
