UPDATE: Barn fire in LaSalle causes half a million dollars damage

Firefighters in LaSalle say the cause of a fire Monday night on Front Road is undetermined.

A barn on Front Road, housing an exotic fish operation, was destroyed during the fire, which started around 9:30 p.m. and took several hours to put out.

"It was well involved by the time we got there, and we did have a partial collapse at one point with the roof," said Fire Chief Dave Sutton. "A lot of the fire was basically trapped under the layers of sheet metal."

Sutton said the damage was so extensive, a cause could not be determined.

"Everything in the area of origin was pretty much consumed," he added.
