Suspect arrested in downtown murder

Windsor police have arrested and charged a 20-year-old man in connection with a homicide in downtown Windsor Tuesday.

Police found the victim with stab wounds on McDougall Street between City Hall Square and University Avenue East Tuesday night. A second victim was also found injured and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Windsor police believe the stabbing stemmed from a two-vehicle collision that happened earlier in the evening on Josephine Avenue near College Avenue.

Police identified a suspect and he was arrested without incident on Wednesday. They also executed a search warrant at a home on Northway Avenue and another on McDougall Avenue.

Jassee Yalda of Windsor is charged with one count of first degree murder.

The incident remains under investigation, however, police are not looking for any other suspects at this time.
