Windsor man facing numerous child porn charges

A Windsor man faces more than 40 charges after a child pornography investigation by the RCMP and the National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre.

The Windsor Police Service was notified of the investigation in December 2019, and launched its own investigation.

A suspect was identified and police received authorization to search a Windsor residence. A number of computer and media storage devices were seized.

On May 28, the Internet Child Exploitation Unit arrested 44-year-old Richard Avery.

The charges have not been proven in court.

While searching the seized digital files police found a number of photos believed to have been taken locally of adults and children in public places. Police said while this is concerning, they did not constitute an offence.
