WECHU reports five new COVID-19 cases

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported five new cases of COVID-19 Thursday morning.

The new cases are linked to one farm worker, one healthcare worker from Michigan, one travel case from Michigan, and two community cases.

The Medical Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed said testing in the region remains steady, with around 4,500 to 6,000 people tested weekly.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 2,356 people have tested positive for the virus. There are currently 279 active cases of COVID-19 in the community. Nine people are in hospital.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
