Windsor man arrested on child pornography charges

Windsor police have charged a 32-year-old man following a month-long investigation into child pornography.

The service's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began the probe in July and eventually obtained a warrant to search a home on Slater Street off Grand Marais Road East. That residence was searched Thursday, and the suspect was arrested on-site without incident.

Several electronic devices were seized from the house, according to Constable Talya Natyshak. The images that were in the suspect's possession were animated or cartoonish in nature.

The man, who has not been identified, is charged with two counts of possession of child pornography and one count of accessing child pornography.

Police are using this investigation as a reminder that although the images were not of actual people, they are still illegal to download or possess, and serious criminal charges can be laid.

Anyone with information on this, or a similar investigation, is asked to call Windsor police at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4896. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
