UPDATE: Two charged after Windsor shooting

Two people have been arrested and charged after a shooting investigation by Windsor police over the weekend, including the man with the gunshot wound.

Windsor police said they were called to a church on Seminole Street for an assault around 3:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

They found the complainant who had injuries consistent with being in a physical altercation. He was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The complainant did not report any gunfire but a gunshot wound was later found on the victim while he was being treated at the hospital.

Police determined the man was assaulted during an argument inside the church. The police investigation found the firearm was discharged outside the church where the dispute continued.

Investigators believe the small calibre handgun belonged to the man who was shot.

The man with the gunshot wound, a 51-year-old Windsor man, is charged with careless use of a firearm, possession of a weapon dangerous of the public peace and assault with a weapon.

Another Windsor man, 34, was also arrested for assault.
