LaSalle closes a section of Front Road because of flooding

With all the rain the region got Friday morning, the Town of LaSalle has shut down some streets because of flooding.

Front Road between Laurier Drive and International Avenue is closed.

The town has asked drivers if they see water on the road, turn around and take another route.

"Wake from vehicles causes damage to properties and other vehicles," said the town in a media release.

All trails near Turkey Creek are closed, along with the bridge over Turkey Creek in Vince Marcotte Park.

The water level in Turkey Creek has not yet peaked and is expected to rise all day, creating a hazard for anyone who comes to close. Residents are asked to keep their children and pets away from the creek.

"The combination of slippery banks, waves, waves overtopping shoreline structures, and fast-moving water can be dangerous," said the town. "Standing water can also present its own unseen hazards. Children, pets, and livestock should be kept away from flowing or standing water, as well as shoreline areas."
