By the time firefighters arrived at the home on Aire Place near Little River Acres Drive, thick smoke was billowing from the home.
The fire started in a second-floor bedroom.
An investigator attended the scene, but could not determine the cause. It is listed as undetermined and the damage is estimated at around $100,000.
No one was injured.
Four Sarnia streets made the CAA's regional Worst Roads list this year. The only road outside of Sarnia to make the top five was Windsor's Riverside Drive East.
The city said road, water and sewer work is starting to get underway, marking another year of aggressive investment into infrastructure renewal.
