Gas leak clean-up continues

Clean-up efforts continue at a gas station on the corner of County Road 20 and 23 in Kingsville where a gas leak occurred.

The gas leak was reported Sunday afternoon and the Town of Kingsville declared a partial state of emergency on Monday.

As of 2 p.m. Tuesday, emergency crews including the Kingsville Fire Department, OPP, and Windsor Fire and Rescue Service HAZMAT team continued to monitor the situation. A Sarnia based clean-up company was also on site to address the leak.

The OPP evacuated homes within the area and had asked that anyone within 500 metres of the intersection to leave and not return until updated by emergency service personnel.

Town of Kingsville administration says they hope to have more information for the displaced residents in the next 24 hours.

Road closures surrounding the scene remain in place.
