Windsor Fire and Rescue crews responded to the blaze between Ontario Street and Garry Dugal Park around 2 p.m Tuesday.
While emergency crews were on the scene, a neighbour was treated for minor smoke inhalation after trying to put out the fire.
Fire officials said the fire started in an enclosed porch at the rear of the house but the cause remains undetermined.
Damages are estimated at around $125,000.
Four Sarnia streets made the CAA's regional Worst Roads list this year. The only road outside of Sarnia to make the top five was Windsor's Riverside Drive East.
The city said road, water and sewer work is starting to get underway, marking another year of aggressive investment into infrastructure renewal.
