Windsor police say charges have been laid after a collision that involved an allegedly drunk driver.

Police were called to the intersection of Huron Church Road and Tecumseh Road West early Tuesday morning for a report of a collision.

When they arrived, they found a heavily damaged vehicle. Witnesses reported the woman driving the other vehicle took off shortly after the crash. A citizen also reported they attempted to help the suspect and was assaulted.

The suspect and vehicle were found a short time later. Police determined the suspect was impaired and she was arrested without incident.
