$2.7M meth bust at Ambassador Bridge

Around $2.7 million of suspected methamphetamine was seized at the Ambassador Bridge last month.

On September 22, a commercial truck coming into Canada was referred to secondary inspection by the Canadian Border Service Agency. Upon inspection, officers found a duffel bag filled with packages of suspected methamphetamine.

The driver of the truck was arrested and the drugs were seized. The RCMP attended and took custody of the person and the evidence.

“Our border services officers in Southern Ontario continue to protect Canadians and ensure that we keep narcotics out of our communities. We work in partnership with the RCMP to stop the importation of illicit drugs at our borders," said Christine Durocher, Regional Director General, Southern Ontario Region, Canada Border Services Agency

Jaspreet Singh, 29 of Brampton, is charged with importation of a controlled substance and possession for the purpose of trafficking.  The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
