WECHU reports eight new COVID-19 cases

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported eight new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

Among the new cases are four close contacts of confirmed cases, two community-acquired cases, and two cases that remain under investigation.

There are 42 known active cases in the community.

Since March, there have been 2,774 confirmed cases in the region. There have been 76 deaths in the community.

Ontario reported 821 new cases of COVID-19 out of 24,000 tests that were completed. There were 327 new cases in Toronto, 136 in Peel and 79 in Ottawa.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
