Health unit reports seven new cases of COVID-19

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported seven new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Thursday.

Among the cases are three close contacts of a confirmed case and a community-acquired case. Three cases are still being investigated.

There have been 2,780 confirmed cases since March. A previous case was removed from the health unit's case count because the person tested negative the second time they were tested.

There are 32 active cases in the community.

In Ontario, 841 new cases were identified out of nearly 38,900 tests completed. There were 335 new cases in Toronto, 162 in Peel, 106 in York Region, and 72 in Ottawa.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
