WECHU reports one new case of COVID-19

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19 in the region on Monday morning.

The health unit is still investigating the origin of the new case.

There are 32 active cases of COVID-19 in the region.

Medial Officer of Health Dr. Wajid Ahmed is urging the public to remain vigilant and continue to practice public health measures even with the community's low number of cases.

"Make no mistake, there are much bigger things at stake with the second wave especially when everything is open and any uncontrolled spread can easily get out of hand and spread everywhere that is currently open," said Dr. Ahmed.

In all of Ontario, there were 851 new cases of COVID-19 reported Monday out of 28,700 tests completed. There are 281 new cases in Toronto, 215 in Peel, 90 in York Region, and 76 in Ottawa.
