Impaired drivers keep OPP busy this weekend

Provincial police in Essex County had a busy weekend responding to calls for service involving alleged impaired drivers.

Between 6 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday, the Ontario Provincial Police responded to seven impaired driving-related calls, three of which involved minor collisions.

All seven drivers were charged with alcohol-related offences. They also face an automatic driver's license suspension and costs related to towing and impound charges.

The OPP is reminding those drinking or using drugs to plan for alternative transportation.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
