WECHU reports five new cases of COVID-19

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported five new cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday.

One of the cases involves a resident of a retirement home, one is a local health care worker, one is a close contact of a previously confirmed case, and one is a travel-related case. One case is still being investigated by the health unit.

There are now 72 active cases in the community.

A case linked to the University of Windsor was identified Monday. The person was a part of the on-campus community.

There are currently two long-term care and retirement homes experiencing outbreaks. There are no workplace or school outbreaks to report.

Ontario reported 1,050 new cases Tuesday with 408 cases in Toronto, 212 in Peel, and 86 in Halton. The province completed 25,300 tests.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
