Six new COVID-19 cases in Windsor-Essex

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported six new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.

Among the new cases are two residents of a long-term care home, two close contacts of a confirmed case, and one local healthcare worker. One case is still under investigation.

To date, there have been 2,878 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the community.  Of those, 2,742 have recovered and 76 people have passed away.  There are now 60 active cases in the community.

Outbreaks continue at two long-term care facilities. There are no outbreaks at any workplace or school to report.

Ontario reported 998 cases Thursday out of 35,900 tests completed. There were 350 new cases in Toronto, 269 in Peel and 71 in York Region.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
