COVID-19 case confirmed at Ste-Marguerite-d’Youville

A case of COVID-19 has been confirmed at École catholique Ste-Marguerite-d’Youville in Tecumseh.

The school is working with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit to identify close contacts among staff and students. A note from the school stated that if a parent has not been contacted, then their child has not been identified as a high-risk close contact.

This is the first case of COVID-19 at any local school with the French Catholic board, Csc Providence.

Over the last week, there have been several cases identified at local schools with both the public and Catholic boards, however, there have been no outbreaks identified. There have been two cases identified at Roseland Public School and one case each at St. Anne French Immersion Catholic Elementary School, Christ the King French Immersion Catholic Elementary School, St. Peter Catholic Elementary School, and St. Louis Catholic Elementary School.

Parents are asked to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 including fever, cough, and difficulty breathing. If you or your child is ill you are advised to stay home and contact your health care provider for further directions.
