Pets cared for during pandemic

The Windsor Essex County Humane Society continues to support families impacted by COVID-19.

Using the Rex Legacy Fund the humane society helped 23 cats and dogs receive needed wellness care for only a small cost to their caregivers.

The Rex Legacy program was launched in 2019 after a donation by Rita and the late Dr. Jay Rampure in memory of their dog Rex. It was meant to support pet owners on the Ontario Disability Support Program. The program was expanded in June to help those who lost their job due to COVID-19.

People can help support the program by making donations online.

Residents can also apply for support through the program through the humane society's website.
