Woman charged with impaired driving after several collisions

A Windsor woman is facing charges after allegedly driving while impaired, colliding with several vehicles and attempting to flee from police.

Around 7 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to the area of Walker Road and North Service Road for a vehicle being driven erratically.

When police arrived, the car had already collided with another vehicle. When officers approached, the driver took off down Walker Road. The car then collided with another vehicle near the E.C.Row Expressway.

As police approached for the second time, the driver again tried to flee but repeatedly hit the other vehicle.

The Windsor Police Service said officers had to force their way into the suspect vehicle to arrest the driver, who was allegedly heavily under the influence of alcohol.

A 56-year-old woman is charged with impaired driving, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and failing to stop for police.
