More COVID-19 cases linked to Windsor-Essex schools

More cases of COVID-19 have been linked to schools in Windsor-Essex.

The Windsor Essex Catholic District School Board has dismissed 46 students after a case of the virus was linked to St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School in South Windsor. One class of 29 students was dismissed along with 17 students from a bus cohort.

CSC Providence, the French Catholic school board, has identified two cases of COVID-19 at L'Essor Catholic School in Tecumseh.

Both school boards are working with the Windsor- Essex County Health Unit to identify high-risk close contacts.

If the health unit has not contacted a parent directly, their child has not been identified as a high-risk close contact and they may continue to go to school as usual.  Both schools remain open at this time.

Parents are asked to continue to monitor their children for symptoms of COVID-19 including cough, fever, and loss of taste.

There are currently three outbreaks at local schools in Windsor-Essex including General Brock Public School and Corpus Christi Catholic Middle School – Central Park Athletics Campus.
