Child pornography probe results in arrest of Windsor man

A 54-year-old man has been arrested following a Windsor police investigation into child pornography.

Officers from the Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) unit began an investigation two months ago when a tip included information about somebody being involved in online child luring and pornographic activity.

Sergeant Steve Betteridge said information was soon gathered and a warrant to search a Windsor home was obtained. The home was searched on Thursday, and a man was taken into custody.

Investigators seized several electronic items, including several cell phones and a portable tablet.

Christopher Garant has been charged with child luring, making child pornography, and distributing child pornography. These charges have not yet been proven in court.

"Detectives from the ICE Unit are satisfied that no children from the local area were involved in the offences," said Betteridge.

Anyone with information that may help Windsor police further its investigation is asked to give them a call at (519) 255-6700, ext. 4896. Anonymous tips may be submitted to Crime Stoppers at (519) 258-TIPS (8477).
