Winners of Essex Christmas Decorating Contest to be announced Monday

The Town of Essex Arts, Culture and Tourism Committee will announce the winners of its Candy Cane Lane Christmas Lights & Decorating Contest on Monday.

Committee members judged the submissions this past week.

In the meantime, residents can access an interactive map of all the submissions on the town's website. Online you will find directions for four different routes. Even if you do not have a vehicle, you can enjoy the best Christmas displays the town has to offer.

Submissions are broken down into individual homes, blocks, and businesses in Essex Centre.

"It's astounding to see so many submissions from home and business owners," said Committee Chair Tony Paniccia.

The prizes are Essex BIA Winter Downtown Dollars, which can be used instead of cash at businesses in Essex Centre.

The first-place winners will get $1,000 worth of Essex BIA Winter Downtown Dollars. The second prize is $500 worth, and it is $250 for the third prize.
