Death in outbreak at Windsor long-term care home

A massive outbreak of COVID-19 at a Windsor long-term care home has turned deadly.

The Village at St. Clair reported the death of a resident at the facility on Wednesday.

"Our deepest condolences are with the family, friends, and the team there, who are all feeling this sorrow," read a message on the facility's website.

The death brings the number of those who have passed away from COVID-19 in Windsor-Essex to 92.

Meanwhile, the number of cases in the outbreak has grown. There are now 54 residents with the virus, and 34 team members.

Team members include staff at the home, essential caregivers, and other workers connected to The Village at St. Clair.

"These team members are all self-isolating at home," continued the statement. "We are mobilizing additional support until they can safely return to work so we can continue to meet the care needs of residents."
