Illegal drugs seized during Leamington raids

Povincial police in Leamington seized over $17,000 in illegal drugs and arrested nine people during raids on Friday.

The OPP Tactical and Rescue Unit searched properties on Wigle Street and Robinson Street. During the search about $17,000 of cocaine, hash, and fentanyl along with an illegal weapon and over $10,000 were seized. Officers also recovered stolen property during the raids.

"The illegal sale and distribution of drugs in our communities continue to remain a concern and those responsible have our undivided attention. Individuals involved in this criminal activity serve no purpose other to undermine the well-being of others and threaten the safety of our communities. Individuals who gather to purchase illicit drugs are also under our scrutiny in relation to Regulations under the Reopening Ontario Act,” said Inspector Glenn Miller, Detachment Commander of Essex County.

As a result of the investigation, six people from Leamington are facing a total of 11 charges. None of the charges have been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
