Firearm seized during arrest

Windsor police officers seized an illegal weapon while making an arrest for a stolen vehicle.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, officers from the Property Crimes unit spotted a vehicle with stolen plates on Ottawa Street.

A man parked the car and exited the vehicle. When he saw police, he tried to take off but he was quickly arrested.

Police found a firearm on the man and multiple shotgun shells inside the vehicle.

Charles Hetry, 46, is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possessing a firearm without a license, occupying a motor vehicle with a firearm, possessing a firearm while prohibited, and possessing ammunition while prohibited.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
