Christmas Eve house fire in Windsor displaces eight people

A fire in downtown Windsor has left eight people without a home.

Firefighters responded to a home in the 1300 block of Goyeau Street just before 4 p.m. on Christmas Eve. Crews arrived to significant smoke and flames coming from the home, but were able to put the fire out quickly.

An investigation determined the cause to be accidental. Those inside the home were able to get out safely and no injuries were reported.

Damages are pegged at $150,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
