Essex County police confirmed the car was struck by the passenger train on Golfview Drive near Valentino Avenue shortly after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Police reported there were no injuries to the driver of the vehicle or the passengers on the train.
The driver has been charged with failure to give way to railway equipment under the Railway Safety Act.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
