Overnight fire near Leamington under investigation

Several firefighters from Leamington and Kingsville rang in the new year by battling a house fire.

Fire crews were called to the vacant home in the 700 block of Mersea Road 10 at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday.

Leamington fire officials said it took them more than four hours to extinguish the blaze with the help of firefighters from the Kingsville fire department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. No injuries were reported and there is no word yet on a damage estimate.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
