Grease fire on Sandwich Street leaves one temporarily homeless

Windsor fire confirmed a kitchen grease fire has displaced one person from their home.

Multiple units were called to a house fire in the 3300 of Sandwich Street just before 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Crews were able to put the fire out quickly and determined the cause was an accident.

No one was injured, though one person is without a home Wednesday evening due to a hydro shut off.

Damage is estimated at $15,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
