OPP investigating a robbery in Belle River

The Ontario Provincial Police are investigating an armed robbery that happened in Belle River Thursday morning.

Around 5:45 a.m. officers were called to a business on County Road 22 between Beechwood Drive and Wildwood Drive.

The Emergency Response Unit and Canine Unit were called to the scene along with the Major Crime and Forensic Identification Unit.

According to police, the lone suspect brandished an edged weapon and stole some cash before leaving the scene. He is described as a white man wearing a grey hoodie with a black hoodie underneath, brown pants, and black running shoes. He was carrying a backpack.

There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
