Man charged after woman sexually assaulted

Windsor police have made an arrest after a woman was awakened to being sexually assaulted in her home.

Police say the woman was sleeping in her home on Parent Avenue around 2:30 a.m. Thursday when she awoke to find a man touching her inappropriately. The suspect took off when the woman woke up.

Around 6 a.m. patrol officers responded to a break and enter on Elliott Street East. A resident was awakened by a noise in the house and then saw an unknown man in their home. The man took off when the resident yelled at him.

Members of the forensic identification unit attended and processed both scenes. Investigators believe the same man was involved in both incidents.

A suspect was identified and arrested at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

Faton Miftari, 36 of Windsor, is charged with break and enter, sexual assault, break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence, and failing to comply with a release order.

The charges have not been proven in court.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
