OPP thanks members of the public for saving driver in crash

Had it not been for the fast action of members of the public on the scene, a driver's injuries could have been much worse.

The Ontario Provincial Police say just after noon on Sunday, a van went off the road on County Road 31 in Kingsville and landed in the ditch.

Just before police arrived, the vehicle caught fire.

Witnesses to the crash pulled the driver from the van to a spot safely away from the flames and waited for emergency services to arrive.

Fortunately, the driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They were taken to the hospital.

Police say they are still investigating the crash and want to thank those who rescued the driver.
