Victim identified in fatal Leamington crash

Ontario Provincial Police have identified a Leamington woman killed in a single-vehicle collision on Tuesday.

Emergency crews were called around 3 p.m. to Mersea Road 6 between Highway 77 and Bruner Road after a vehicle collided with a light pole.

Both of the vehicle’s occupants were rushed to hospital. One of them, 59-year-old Elizabeth Thiessen, succumbed to her injuries. The other occupant was treated in hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The OPP continues to investigate this incident. Anyone who may have witnessed what happened who has not spoken with police is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
