Another 44 people in Windsor-Essex have tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit did not release results on Monday because of the Family Day holiday in Ontario, so Tuesday's update accounts for two days of data.
The health unit said eight of the new cases were from close contact with a previously confirmed case. Another four were acquired in the community, while 16 were connected to outbreaks in the region. The final 16 infections are still under investigation.
There were no cases reported on Monday.
Another 43 cases are considered resolved Tuesday morning. The total since March is now 11,945 or 94.7 per cent of the total caseload.
There are now 9,559 Windsor-Essex residents are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Another 2,502 have had their first shot of either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, and are waiting for their second.
The number of active cases did not change much since the last update on Sunday. Three-hundred-and-six people in Windsor-Essex have active infections, compared to 305 on Sunday.
There have been no new fatalities since Saturday's report when three more people reportedly died of COVID-19. Since then, the death toll has remained at 355.
Public health officials also reported 17 outbreaks in the region. They include workplaces, seven long-term care and retirement homes, and two in the community.
New cases province-wide were below 1,000 again Tuesday morning. Public Health Ontario said there were 904. The Toronto Public Health Unit may have under-reported its new case count as it moves to a new methodology.
New variants of COVID-19 continue to spread in Ontario. The provincial agency now reports 309 confirmed cases of the U.K variant, nine of the South African strain, and one of the Brazilian.
Across Ontario, another 26 people died of the virus for a total now of 6,719.
