New COVID-19 outbreak declared at Windsor Regional Hospital

Not long after becoming outbreak free, the Windsor Regional Hospital has declared a new outbreak at the Ouellette Campus.

A statement released by the hospital late Wednesday evening said three patients on the Clinical Teaching Unit tested positive for COVID-19, additional patients and staff members are also being tested.

Admissions to the hospital will continue, but must be approved by the Infection Prevention and Control department.

The hospital added that precautions remain in place at both campuses, and all patients must be tested for the virus before being admitted, whether asymptomatic or not.

WRH is currently treating 22 in-patients with COVID-19.

On Saturday, the remaining outbreak at 8 West on the Ouellette campus was declared over.
