WECHU reports 32 new cases of COVID-19

The Windsor Essex County Health Unit reported 32 new cases of COVID-19 in the region on Tuesday.

The health unit also reported three more COVID-19 related deaths. A man in his 70s and a woman in her 90s who lived in the community passed away after contracting the virus. A woman in her 90s who lived in a long-term care home also passed away after testing positive for the virus. There have been 376 deaths in the region since March.

Among the new cases reported on Tuesday, five are related to an outbreak, seven are community acquired, and 10 are close contacts of a previously confirmed case. The health unit continues to investigate 10 cases.

There have been 12,816 cases in the community since March. To date, 12,177 cases have been resolved. There are 263 active cases in the community.

Local hospitals are treating 42 patients with COVID-19, seven patients are in the intensive care unit.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
