Drugs and weapons probe leads to two arrests

Police have arrested two men in connection with a raid near the University of Windsor.

Windsor police began earlier this month an investigation into suspected illicit drug trafficking. Eventually, a home believed to be involved was identified, along with at least one suspect.

At around 10 p.m. Monday, officers arrested a man on Campbell Avenue near College Avenue. An unspecified amount of cocaine was found on the suspect.

Within a half-hour, officers executed a search warrant on a home at Bridge Avenue near College. Cocaine, a firearm, a loaded magazine, ammunition, brass knuckles, and an undisclosed amount of cash were seized.

A second suspect was identified during the course of the investigation and was also taken into custody, according to Constable Talya Natyshak.

Jason Hanna, 35, and Chavez Pabla, 29, both of Windsor, are each charged with possession of cocaine with intent to sell, possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of brass knuckles, possession of a weapon with ammunition readily available, contravention of firearms regulation in regard to storage, knowingly possessing a firearm with the serial number removed, possession of a firearm when prohibited, and possession of ammunition when prohibited.

These charges have not been proven in court.
