Windsor-Essex school boards offering COVID-19 testing Saturday

Despite the four-day Easter weekend for school children, the four public school boards serving Windsor-Essex will offer asymptomatic COVID-19 tests on Saturday.

Testing will once again be offered by Lifelabs, this time at École élémentaire catholique Pavillon des Jeunes, at 326 Rourke Line in Belle River.

Staff and students living in the N0R postal code will have an opportunity to get a free, voluntary COVID-19 test. The schools included in this postal code are St. Anne Catholic High School, Belle River District High School, École élémentaire catholique Pavillon des Jeunes, St. William Catholic Elementary School, Belle River Public School, École élémentaire St-Paul; St. John the Baptist Catholic School, Lakeshore Discovery School, École élémentaire St-Ambroise; St. John the Evangelist Catholic School; Centennial Central Public School; and Belle River students from École secondaire catholique l’Essor.

The following schedule will be followed on a walk-in basis.

  • 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. - School Staff
  • 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. - Students with last names beginning with "A"
  • 10 a.m. to  10:30 a.m. - Students with last names beginning with "B"
  • 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. - Students with last names beginning with "C" or "D"
  • 11 a.m. to  11:30 a.m. - Students with last names beginning with "E", "F" or "G"
  • 11:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "H", "I" or "J"
  • 12 p.m. to  12:30 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "K" or "L"
  • 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "M" or "N"
  • 1 p.m. to  1:30 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "O", "P" or "Q"
  • 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "R" or "S"
  • 2 p.m. to  2:30 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "T", "U" or "V"
  • 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. - Students with last names beginning with "W", "X", "Y" or "Z"
Consent will be required from parents for any students under 18.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
