COVID-19 cases identified at public schools in Windsor-Essex

Many students with the Greater Essex County District School Board will be learning from home over the next two weeks after COVID-19 cases were linked to their classes.

According to the public school board's website, the health unit has identified eight cases of the virus linked to seven different schools since Friday.

Schools with new cases of COVID-19 identified in the last four days include Sandwich Secondary, Sandwich West, King Edward, Jack Miner, General Amherst, David Suzuki, and Centennial Central. All of the cases identified are among students at the schools.

The close contacts of the identified cases would have been contacted directly from the Windsor Essex County Health Unit and advised to self-isolate.

If you have no received a call from the health unit your child can attend school as usual. All schools remain open.

There are no current outbreaks associated with any local school.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
