Atlas Tube Centre gets name change

The Atlas Tube Centre in Lakeshore is getting a slight name change.

It is being rebranded The Atlas Tube Recreation Centre.

The name change is to minimize confusion with the Atlas Tube manufacturing facility in Harrow.

Stephanie and Barry Zekelman who donated $1-million and donated steel for the Aquatic centre named the recreation centre. The couple also raised millions of dollars to support the construction of the Atlas Tube Centre.

The Zekelmans also covered the cost of the new signs on the south side of the building facing County Road 42 and on the west side.

The new signs could take a week to fully install and work will start on Monday.
