Windsor police investigating arson

The Windsor Police Service is investigating after an early morning fire on Pierre Avenue was determined to be deliberately set.

Windsor Fire and Rescue crews were on the scene on Pierre near Ottawa Street and extinguished the blaze. Firefighters found a number of homemade incendiary devices, or Molotov cocktails, in the area and called police investigators.

Police believe the fire started around 12:45 a.m. No injuries were reported. The Windsor Police Service says investigators believe this was a targeted incident, however, the residence damaged was not the intended target.

Police are asked anyone in the area with surveillance cameras to check their footage for suspicious activity. Any suspicious person or vehicle should be reported to arson investigators at 519-255-6700 ext. 4330 or ext. 4000 (after hours), Crime Stoppers anonymously at 519-258-8477 (TIPS) or online at www.catchcrooks.com.
